Creative Technologies: Assessment 2 – Ten Second Film

Today I finished my ten second film for handing in. So far I have managed to add some special effects using both Windows Movie Maker and Nero 7. This has achieved the results I was hoping for this project. I would have used AVID as specified in the brief but the program seemed unwilling to import the footage I have recorded and as such left me no choice but to resort to other software to edit my movie. This is regrettable but unavoidable. The reasons for this development were unclear as the footage was recorded in a universally used format, AVI, so as stated above I have used other software at my disposal to edit and burn my film onto CD. Also the film on CD was burnt as an Mpeg; the reason for this being that AVI as format proved problematic as the film kept stalling at random intervals.

Creative Technologies: Assessment 2 - Ten Second Film

Managed to record some footage for my ten second film but this was hindered by the batteries dying on my camera. So far I've managed to put the footage recorded together using Nero 7 and was able to add some special effects to the film, such as flames around the chicken when the sauce was added and some heat waves when the chicken was being cooked. The only thing left to do now is to record a bit more footage to finish the film off and compress it down to the ten seconds specified in the brief. In order to do this I will either need to use Adobe Premier or AVID to cut the film down to size. After this I will have to prepare some notes for the presentation I have to for the project.

Creative Technologies: Assessment 2 - Ten Second Video

Started work on my ten second video today. So far, I've a jotted a few ideas down, worked out the feasability of each one and made a decision on which one to use. I've decided to do a ten second video on making a curry, mainly using freeze-frames to flip from each stage to the next so, for example; the first stage will be the chicken fillets before and after I've cut them up and then move onto cooking them and then adding the sauce. I also plan to integrate a few effects into the movie to make it more interesting. For this I will most likely be using Nero 7 but this depends on what other software has to offer.

I've yet to find a sound track to use for the background of this movie. This is something I will have to look into. I will also have to familiarise myself with the editing software we have to use (AVID) but seeing as I've had experience with editing software before, hopefully this shouldn't be too difficult.

I went to uni to check out a camera but they were all lent out so I will have to go back early tomorrow and get one then.
